This Hakata-ori tie is woven mainly from silk yarn dyed with the mud-dyeing technique of Amami Oshima. Seventeen colors are worked into the cloth, giving the silver surface an iridescent sheen that shifts with the angle of light.

The dyed silk is made for strong lightfastness and colorfastness, while the Hakata-ori weave gives the tie a firm, stable hand. The knot holds cleanly, resists loosening, and gives a sharp, composed finish.
