What Is Hakata-ori?

What is Hakata-ori?

Hakata-ori is a woven textile tradition associated with Fukuoka, Japan. On Fukuoka Silk, it appears in silk ties, pouches, small woven goods, gift sets, and lightweight Japanese silk stoles selected for material, pattern, and origin.

The important point is that the pattern is woven into the textile. It is not simply printed on top. That gives Hakata-ori its crisp geometry, subtle raised surface, and formal character.

Why Fukuoka Silk uses it

Fukuoka Silk focuses on pieces that can be worn, gifted, and carried internationally: Hakata-ori silk ties, small woven goods, and gift-ready objects with a clear Fukuoka origin story.
