FAQ

Where do you ship from, and how long does it take?
Every piece ships directly from Fukuoka, Japan. We dispatch within 1–3 business days, and delivery to the United States takes about 6–12 business days after dispatch, depending on customs. Every order is tracked.

Will I have to pay customs duties?
Your order ships from Japan, so depending on your country's current rules, import duties or taxes may be charged on delivery and are the recipient's responsibility. If you'd like an estimate before ordering, email us and we'll help.

  Is this really genuine Hakata-ori?
Yes. Every piece comes from ateliers within the Hakata-ori (博多織) tradition in Fukuoka — a craft designated by Japan's national government. We are a single-origin house; we do not mix in look-alike fabrics.

How do I care for it?
For neckties, dry clean only — never machine wash silk. Untie the knot after each wear and let the tie rest to recover its shape. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight. Small silk goods can be spot-cleaned gently.

What if I change my mind, or something is wrong?
If an item arrives damaged or incorrect, email us within 14 days and we'll replace it or refund you, return shipping on us. Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 14 days if unused and tagged. See our Refund Policy for details.

Can I send it as a gift?
Yes. Hakata-ori has been given as formal tribute for centuries — it makes a considered gift. Tell us in the order notes if it's a gift, and we'll keep the packaging clean and price-free.

  How do I reach you?
Email hello@fukuokasilk.com. We're a small team in Fukuoka and we read every message.
